So now that summer is upon us and hockey season is over, for me anyways (R.I.P. Sabres)?  Haha.  I'm curious what everyone has in mind for the warmer months.  As for me, I have accepted a job as assistant camp director for a YMCA camp while I'm on summer break from college.  10 weeks on a lake playing games and dealing with little trouble makers...  Ahh, I wouldn't have it any other way.  Grin  Haha.

Whats everyone got??

We just bought a pop up camper and we're loving it.  We'll be camping a lot this summer.  I want to go to Mt Rushmore but I don't know if we'll have time or not.

Being a camp counselor sounds like a lot of fun.  I love doing stuff with kids.

I agree with I.T. Chick we just bought a tent trailer and were in it last week-end in the Rockies,...will post a picture later...
We are going again this week-end
The one above is the next model up from ours....Awesome trailer and a breeze to pull around and set up.
So yeah that's what we will be doing this summer ......alot of camping.

It is with great sadness (but with heavy bills weighing for it) that I've put our motorhome up for sale.  It's a total P.O.S. toyota with a 4-cylinder engine, but hey, the fridge, stove, heater and bathroom all worked fine.

The sad part is that we just weren't using it any more.  Kids are older and such.  It sucks, but I think I'm the only one who really misses camping.

I'm feeling bitter.  I'm thinking about calling you all names.  Maybe a cartman "you bastards" or something.  But no.  I can be big about this.  Have fun this summer!  <sniff>

I.T. Chick, working at a camp is a lot of fun!

I'm with you M@W, but I don't even have a tent!  Haha.  The only thing I have is my cabin at the camp Im working at.

Just for the record M@W I spent 20 years roughing it in a tent.
Oh how I miss the indent in my back from sleeping on a tree root the previous night. The shivering every night in the cold damp mountains of my youth. Waking up in a drenched sleeping bag because the tent wasn't quite as waterproof as the manufacturer's claims. Or trying to sleep in a tent that became a sauna first thing in the morning as the sun baked down on it. Running after the tent in windstorms as it blew across the campground, bent tent pegs that hit every rock on the way into the terraferma. Trying to fit all my camping gear into a small Pathfinder, Ah memories....good times .......good times.

As I sleep off the ground this week-end in my heated trailer awakening refreshed and dry every morning I will think of all you poor bastards walking with a crick in your spine as you pick pine needles out of your ass.
Oh how I miss those days........................

Last year we tent camped in a near tornado.  We had to hold the tent up with our feet which soaked us.  That's when we decided that a little structure might be nice.  Ours isn't too fancy, it's a used 2000 Palomino Colt.  But it does have a heater, AC (we haven't used yet), fridge and stove.  Besides the lack of back aches don't forget about fewer bugs and spiders.   Grin  We're loving it.

How old are your kids?  Just wondering about what age they stop liking the camping.  Mine are 8 and 11.  I hope they don't bail on it soon.  Getting a boat (next on our wish list) will probably help.  Grin

Been awhile since I've posted but camping is definitely on my to-do list. Going to Vegas in the middle of June as I believe I have mentioned in an earlier post. Never been there. Look foward to burning my pale, white carcus soaked in my own blister milt, gambling all my money away!

Well I was planning on a 2-week trip to Croatia with 10 friends, 3 cars and 1 big-ass tent. But looks like we can't get the 3 cars to get us there, because one of the owners can't go with us anymore. Awww =(
But I'm still going camping! We'll just have to find an alternative

Ancient.  Two of them are almost older than me.  Three of them, no, make that four of them, know all the answers to everything already.  Really, I have no idea why they keep coming to me and asking me questions.   Undecided
</rant>

I think it all started to fall apart one year when I said "let's go to the lake" and the first question was whether or not they could plug in a curling iron up there.  I said, "Why?" thereby sowing the seeds for the now common conception that I really just don't understand anything.  But I've already covered that, I think.

Good luck.  Oh, and the straight answer is that I think they stopped liking it at about 13 or 14, más o menos.
