Hi all.

I've been looking for posts relating to the above issue for a few weeks now and seen nothing. Unsure if this is because people are afraid to ask for fear of an answer we *ALL* don't wanna hear, due to being in denial over the whole affair (;o)) or if there's an implicit level of confidence in the belief that the storm will be successfully weathered (this would be A-W-E-S-O-M-E if it was the case. Just dunno if it is though...).

Whatever, the situation *is* pending and I for one, am anxious to get Howard's opinion on what'll happen to wazee if (when??) the s**t hits the fan.

Not sure if the extortionate rates'll be absorbed by the strength of listener donations alone, but judging by the panic that's being elicited from other web stations, I think this is *perhaps* unlikely.

So what say thee, Howard? How's wazee gonna fare  if the Goddamned RIAA get their way with their latest music extortion scam - again?

Do you mean you've yet to hear back from Howard? I assume I've just misunderstood (not uncommon for myself ;o))) and you mean something else, as I'd have thought you would have just been able to ask him...! ;o))

It's not up to me, but personally I think Wazee should halt streaming on Sunday. This wouldn't mean the end forever, as I believe pressure to reverse the CRB's rates will greatly increase once Internet radio disappears. I would see silencing the stream as a temporary form of protest.

I can't say what Wazee should do, but as a long-time listener, I would support that form of protest, or any other that helps internet radio in general.  My guess is that a lot of people here would back that as well.

Without any input from 'him that holds the switch', I'm left to wonder what I would do if I owned a station and was confronted with this mess.  Let me see, if this were the case I'd be thinking, 1) I have a family, 2) I have a job, 3) I got into this for a love of music, not a love for the politics of the music industry...  and so on.   I'm not sure how long it would take me to come to the conclusion that no matter how much i felt like continuing it just wasn't possible to do so (see (1) and (2) above).

Nobody wants that, but no philosophical discussion about how things should be is going to change the state of things.  Protest might, so I'll add my support here, FWIW.
