I must see that video (Darkness) with all the press it's getting Wink

Howard, I love the variety here and wouldn't change a thing except maybe the "Darkness" cut. Tongue

agreed...my vote also is for no channels, the music played already runs the gamut from alt. to hard-rock...

speaking of Liam Lynch, anyone seen his video for "Whatever?"  Really funny stuff, right up there w/ the video for Darkness "I believe in love," which may be both the most funny and most disturbing thing I have ever seen...

I agree, don't do channels.  I like the community.  I like when Liam Lynch comes on that we can all sound off on the message board and say "OMG WHAT WERE YOU THINKING HOWARD!?"

Channels would just break up the community imo.  Stick to your guns, damn the man, save the empire!

I've considered adding "channels" to wazee ... but, whenver I think it through I decide against it.

Wazee's sound is ever evolving to meet the preferences of its listeners and its programmer (me!).

Wazee sounds a lot different today than it did when we first started ... that's all about listener feedback and changes in the music scene! The point is we all like the "same kind" of music and that's why we're all here.

You dig the same kind of music I dig.  That's why you listen. If that music might be clasffied as hard-rock, or alternative, or alt.rock so be it.  I think having multiple channels would detract from the "community" feel that comes from everyone listening to the same stuff.

Now, I understand that no-one is always in the mood for wazee ... everyone needs variety.  Even I tune to other stations now and then.  The reality is that I will never be able to program a techno/club stream as well as Ari over at DI... just like Ari would have no chance at pulling together an alt.rock stream as well as wazee.

I don't have a passion for techno/club ... I have a passion for what I play on wazee.  That's the ONLY recipe for a good sounding station.  You can't program a country station well if you don't really dig that kind of music!

The programming I play on weekends during Wazee Freeform is stuff I have passion about ... I play that same stuff in the normal broadcast -- just not all at once.

There are plenty of places you can go to find 10-20 channels of strict genre-based programming ... but that seems more like a record-store-playlist, or a DMX cable-music channel than a radio station programmed by a living, breathing person!

Who knows ... maybe there is room for a freeform version of wazee to compliment our main stream ... somehow that just doesn't sit right with me.

Wazee is wazee.  Just like Coke is Coke.  I mean, really... do we need anything other than Coke Classic?  Wouldn't the world be a better place without Diet Coke, Vanilla Coke, Diet Vanilla Coke, Diet Cherry Vanilla Coke, Diet Coke with Lemon, etc.?

Maybe the question should be what's going on with us that results in the production of 12 varieties of Coke!?  We've lost our ability to conform at all ... even for the sake of trying something new.  We all want to be different, but we want the same stuff.  We want "mass customization".

So, who knows if we'll ever try multiple "flavors" of wazee.  One thing I can promise is that when you want wazee, you'll find it here... no more, no less.

 Cool

I personally would love to have a secondary wazee stream going, but than again... is there enough demand for it and plus you have the monetary concerns. I personally think wazee should get more on its feet and start churning more of a profit before branching out, that way it has a solid base that it can always fall back upon if it doesn't work out too well. And of course, everyone has to love the FreeForm weekends; very nice to listen to and refreshing.

P.S. What's up with all the music with Jesus in the title, we turning Christian Alt-Rock? Tongue

P.P.S I noticed you play Plumb every once and a while, an interesting note is that my brother is her guitarist while she is on tour... dunno if it's lead guitar or not, but it is still cool

I'm really digging the Freeform weekends; Wazee is part of my cycle of internet radio broadcasts, but during the week, I'll usually get fed up with some of the harder stuff Wazee spins and swap to another station. During the weekends, however, I find myself listening to tens of songs in a row, not wanting to change the station or kill the music while I'm working. I've become addicted to it...

Here's a thought. Broadcasts like di.fm have multiple streams of slightly different genres. I think the difference between the Wazee Freeform Weekends and the standard spin list is almost enough to start a second stream to be played in tandem with the first (it's okay for some tracks to overlap between the two streams; di.fm does this a little). What would it take for radio.wazee to be able to do this, and is there enough of a demand for it? It's something I'd personally like to see; if you would too, please sound off.

Some songs on the weekends seem a little cheesey.  I was listening to John Mayr and I was about to kill my self until the TFlips came on!

freeform weekend is good cuz it gives you something new to listen to so you don't get "burned out" from the regular play list AND it's good "I waited until the last minute to do my homework now I have to cram" music Wink
