Bio
The Kenny Young Band

Kenny Young and his band hail from the southern shore area of New Jersey. After one listen to this band, you’d swear these boys lived somewhere below the Mason-Dixon Line. Kenny Young was raised around music. His father, Ken Young Jr., an accomplished guitar player, always had jam sessions at the house.

Kenny taught himself to play guitar at the age of eight and in 5th grade he joined the choir at school where he sang Alto. Teaching himself to play the drums, at age 12, he formed his 1st band with some close friends. When Kenny turned 21 he formed the band Tribulation along with his brother, father and two close friends. Kenny was the lead guitar player for a few years before taking over as lead vocalist and playing rhythm guitar.

In the mid 90’s, Kenny Young decided to put his music on the back burner of life to raise his family. For almost 10 years Kenny only played at home for his wife and his children. In 2005, after deciding to go back into the recording studio to record some original acoustic songs he’d been working on over the last decade, he caught the ear of Thomas Smead, the owner of Tommy Naples Music and Record Label.

Fast forward to 2010! Kenny Young brings together a group of musicians to help him record his debut album, “Simple Things”. Kenny’s life has travelled many roads over the years and he paved them into a collection of songs that range from beautiful ballads like “Lay A Rose” to balls-to-the-wall rockers like “Krazy“.

Throughout 2011, The Kenny Young Band began to pack venues throughout the southern shore towns in New Jersey. While building a solid fan base playing sold-out shows and benefits Kenny Young’s new album, “Simple Things” was receiving positive reviews from music critics, radio programmers and DJ’s around the world.

Even with his music gaining popularity and exposure, Kenny felt his songs needed something more; it was time for a change! And, he found it with the addition of two solid guitar players who bring more to his music with the addition of other instruments. Kenny Young is finally seeing his true vision coming into focus.

The Kenny Young Band is releasing a new 7 song EP in March 2014

Kenny Young is lead vocalist and plays acoustic guitar. The band’s lead guitarist who bring other instrumentation to the musical mix is Dante DeFeo (Zach Williams and The Reformation) on lead electric guitar, slide guitar, and pedal steel. Ed Shulde on Keyboards. The bands rhythm section consists of Leon Creamer Bass Guitar, Kenny Young IV (K-4)(Outlet/ Young & Wise) Drums and Lisa Camp (Alex Glover & Co. and Melonie Rice Entertainment) Background Vocals.
