Bio
David J Murphy was delivered to this planet by beings of light traveling in a trans-dimensional pyramid. With a superhuman compositional ability for music and skin that can withstand a nuclear blast, David is clearly the one who will save the world with music. All rejoice, for now we will conquer EVIL!
AHAhaha. Just kidding.
But seriously. David J Murphy is a talented musician with a new paradigm. His wide variety of styles and moods work wonders to indulge and satisfy. Lyrical subject matter ranges from adventures in the spiritual realm, to dreams and imagery, to a fresh and honest push for achieving something better. It fringes on questions of alternate realities, our role and origin as humans, and the real purpose of love.
In David's music you may catch influences from bands like A Perfect Circle, Midnight Oil, Soundgarden, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana and Tool, to name a few.
David J Murphy has been writing and composing his own music nearly his whole life, appreciating the beautiful ballad Greensleeves with tears of joy at age 3. He was born in Ohio and raised in southeast Iowa, USA, though his life and surroundings have LITTLE or NOTHING to do with pigs and corn (or Slipknot for that matter). A word from the artist:
"Ok, so I've pretty much been writing music since age eight (I'm bout 23 now), recording since age sixteen. The songs on this album (my only one out so far) are all original (no covers). I play drums, bass, guitars, piano, and I sing. I engineer, record, mix, master and produce (but hey I'm still learning). I did the artwork, too. I just have fun doing everything; it's what I want to do so I do it.
"My mission lies in seeking the enlightenment/growth/healing of myself and others through music. Deep musical listening, musical performances, contemplation of music, etc. Music is my lifeblood, though I have dozens of other interests.
"The production of Ashes & Fire was very rushed (I put it together in just over a month, not counting songwriting) but I learned a LOT doing it. And my next album will be so much stronger for it."
For more MP3 song samples and more information, visit David's website! Also on the site (completely written and maintained by David) is quasi-daily news, various writings/articles (no immature emotional rants, don't worry), a form page to contact David (preferrably about joining a band with him, he says, but he'll enjoy most things that aren't spam), and a place where you can buy T-shirts and other gear! By all means, enjoy 'Ashes & Fire' and email what you think!
